First off, thanks to all of you who wished my man a happy birthday. He kept asking me how many people had wished him a happy birthday on my blog. It was super cute!
I had a fun, busy weekend and unfortunately, took NO PICTURES! I know, bad blogger award goes to me. Sorry.
Since it was Nate's birthday, we got together with his sister for our traditional birthday brunch. We've had fun, on/near each of our birthdays, going to new breakfast places in Portland. It's AMAZING how many wonderful breakfast places there are in Portland. I had heard about Jam on Hawthorne about a week before Nate's birthday so I figured it was a sign that we were supposed to go there. Let me tell you, it was FABULOUS!!! Seriously. All three of us agreed that it was the best breakfast place we've been to in Portland.
First off, we got there around 10 and were done by about 11:15. For those of you knowledgeable of Portland breakfast places (Think, The Screen Door) that's unheard of! Beyond that, the food was fabulous. I got a scramble and a chai blueberry pancake. It is now my goal in life to make a chai blueberry pancake as well as they did. I could have eaten about twenty five of them... And they were huge!
After brunch, Nate and I stopped by Scrap Portland. I had gone there a little while ago to get supplies for a project I'm working on but I had run out of the supplies! (No, I'm not telling you what the supplies were because I'm going to be sharing the craft later) It's fun buying cheap supplies from a donation filled supply store. I feel like I'm saving the landfills one fabric yard, yarn skein, or craft paper page at a time.
Nate has midterms on Monday so I made myself scarce in the afternoon on Saturday. I had gotten a groupon for Yoga on Yamhill so I thought it was high time I used it. It was wonderful. I went to a Yin, restorative class and it was so relaxing. I left with my muscles feeling perfectly stretched. The studio is donation based so I'm sure I'll be going back even when I've used up my groupon visits.
Saturday evening, Nate had some friends over to play risk so I once again made myself scarce (Don't worry, we're having his birthday party next weekend. Trust me, I didn't forget). Some friends were having a clothing swap so I happily joined in. It was a win-win situation, Nate was happy that I left with a box full of clothes I don't wear anymore and I was happy that I came home with half a box full of clothes I will wear.
On Sunday, Nate and I went to church and then the hubby had to study. What did I do since I couldn't hang out with my man? I went to Yoga again! Who on earth am I turning into? This class was Power Yoga so, even though it was wonderful as well, it was the opposite kind of wonderful Saturday's class was. This class was full of movement! I worked up quite a sweat trying to keep up with people who have obviously been doing it for years. The class ranged from absolute beginners (like me) to people who could do poses I couldn't even dream of doing. I was impressed at how the instructor was able to lead each of us at our own skill level. I never felt like I had to sit out but I also wasn't pushed into doing things like balancing my whole body on my arms. (I think they called it the crow's pose?) Yeah, it was hard and sweaty but super fun! (Anyone in Portland want to join me next time I go? I love doing things with friends!)
Nate and were able to spend a bit of time on Sunday night together but mostly I got to catch up on the blogosphere, do a little housework, and work on the project I'll be sharing later.
All in all, I'd say this weekend was wonderful! Portland has such wonderful things to take part in! (Now for the hubby to be done with grad school...)
PS. Both pictures are from the venue's web sites.
PSS. No one paid me/compensated me/or any other form of giving me anything for writing these reviews but, as always, if they wanted to I'd be ok with that. ;-)

I have never been to Portland but I would love to visit. When I visit I will have to eat here, those chai blueberry pancakes sounds amazing. Thanks for this post. xx. McKenna Lou

I went to Jam when I was new to Portland! I LOVED it - I ran past there the other day and the line was so long!
ReplyDeleteI wondered if Jam was any good. Thanks for the recommendation. My husband has a yearning to play Risk, too, but I don't think I'd get into it either. Happy blogging. Glad I stopped by! jf
ReplyDeleteI love Jam! One of my favorite brunch places... we haven't been in a long while though! Glad you had a good weekend. Sometimes it is nice not photographing everything!

ReplyDeleteHa, I don't think no pictures makes you a bad blogger- at least you still shared what you did, and threw in some visual stuff because everyone on the internet are like children and need visual stimulation to break up the text. :) Glad your weekend was fun- so fun you didn't think to pull out the camera because you were living up the fun!
ReplyDeleteWow, yes that is a very Portland weekend! Sounds fun though and makes me yearn for kid free weekends of year spast...

going to breakfast in portland is literally one of my favorite things to do on weekends. :) we'll have to try this place. glad you had a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried to hunt for breakfast places. Other than a mom-'n-pop joint out in Tigard, I don't know of any. Glad to see there are several like that in around Portland.
ReplyDeleteHey Susannah,
ReplyDeleteHave y'all tried Bi-Ways Cafe? It's on Glisan and 12th or 14th (one of those don't quite remember). They have really good food! They are quite busy though so it may take awhile. They are famous for their hashes but I always get a breakfast sampler when I go, it's sooo good! Y'all should try it!

No pictures?!?! haha! So glad you had a wonderful weekend! I love simply nice weekends!
ReplyDeleteI always figure a lack of pictures just means you were having too good of a time to bothered with a camera. Nothing wrong with that :)
ReplyDeleteNext time I'm in Portland, I'm checking out Jam on Hawthorne.
ReplyDeleteOh I SO want to go to Portland, I'm jealous!
ReplyDeleteI also really want to visit Portland! I just heart your blog! I'm a new GFC follower :)

sounds like a great weekend! i've heard good things about portland! i got a group for a few yoga classes awhile ago and loved it! I need to do it again!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Alaska which is a hop-skip-jump from Portland (sort of) but I've never been! PLUS my husband grew up in Vancouver, WA so he spent a lot of time in Portland and is always saying we need to come visit. THOSE PANCAKES HAVE ME CONVINCED! Ha! oh, food. And also, yoga is addictive. I am obsessed with it and feel so off if I don't do at least a little every day. Such a great addiction ;)
ReplyDeleteChai blueberry pancakes sound amazing! Seems like you had a great weekend :)
