A Bit Behind

I know, friends, I'm about four days behind in life.  All the Oscar posts went up on Monday and here I am on Thursday talking about the Oscars.  Also, fun fact, I didn't watch the Oscars.  I've never watched the Oscars.  Yet still I'm talking about it.

Ok, to be honest, I'm not really talking about the Oscars.  All I want to talk about is Jennifer Lawrence at the Oscars.  She's basically my favorite.

Firstly, she most definitely won best dressed in my opinion.  I would die if I ever got to wear a dress like this.  Absolutely, beyond amazing!  I just can't stop staring!  (Also, I always appreciate when a gorgeous girl doesn't show off all the goods...  If you know what I mean...)

Of course, she's also a fabulous actress, a fact that was made evident when she won Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook (which I haven't seen yet because I'm to cheap to see movies in a real theater)

As many of you saw (or if you're like me, you heard about it the next day and had to YouTube to find it) she tripped walking up the stairs to receive her award.

Seriously, my heart broke for her a little bit.  Thankfully, I also watched her interview after the awards ceremony - solidifying in my mind that I want to be her best friend.

Seriously, she's amazing!  I love how down to earth, awkward, and sarcastic her interview was.  She seemed like a real person, unlike Anne Hathaway (who I'm sure is a wonderful person - if you ever stumble across my blog, Anne, I do not mean this offensively in the slightest) who felt very rehearsed and had to say the right things and not say other things.  I'm sure there's no way she would have mentioned taking a shot before doing the interview.  Watching other interviews she's done, you can tell that's really who she is.  She's a country girl, awkward, and unsure of herself.  She's just like the rest of us.  It's so refreshing.

My one bone to pick with her...  She didn't bring up the Hunger Games when talking about the makeup/hair team she has.  When that question was asked, my first thought was how funny it would have been to make some sarcastic quip about the Oscars being like the games.  I guess she must not have thought about it since she fell.  Slight concussion maybe?

I'd love to hear what you thought about the Oscars.  Any other big moments I missed out on?  Anyone else want to be Jennifer's best friend?  (Too bad, that job's already taken.)

  2. I agree, she is refreshing, and I was super glad to see her win over her competition. I don't really like the swear words that pop out of her mouth, but she would definitely be a fun person to hang out with! :)

  10. Love this post! We have seen lots on the Oscars but none that showed her post Oscar interview. She is awesome and if you weren't already her BFF then we'd sign up for the job. She seems like "Hollywood" has not gotten to her and we hope she stays that way. Following you via GFC too. :-)

  12. I was going to do an Oscars Best Dressed post, but I just do not have the time to put together all my favorite looks. While I thought Jennifer's makeup and jewelery was outstanding, I thought her dress was a little too bridal. The one she wore to the after party was GORGEOUS though.

Best Dressed for me: Jessica Chastain, Alicia Vikander, and Georgina Chapman!

    Great post! :)

  19. I do like her, but she is a LITTLE vulgar for my taste. I really loved the performance by the Les Mis cast at the oscars. It made me a little teary ;)

  20. I agree, that was my favorite dress, though I also loved Zoe Saldana's... I didn't watch the Oscars either. But I always am on the internet the next day, looking at all the beautiful people and wondering why in real life there are not more opportunities to have a black tie night at parties that happened in every episode of Gossip Girl...

  22. I think what I love about her is how real she is. She is just sweet and kind, I hope she doesn't change. I know that fame and Hollywood can really change people. I hope she is still like that 20 years from now.
